Strictly Come Dancing: Who’s dancing to what in week four

Strictly Come Dancing: Who’s dancing to what in week four

DJ Scott Mills will be hoping he doesn’t have ‘a total eclipse of the heart’ on the dance floor

Scott Mills will be dancing to Bonnie Tyler

The final titles have rolled on  movie night,  the bright lights of Hollywood are a distant memory for the dancers, but don’t worry there is a bit of Bonnie to celebrate this week.

The songs and dances for week four of Strictly Come Dancing have been revealed and DJ Scott Mills and his partner Joanne Clifton will be performing the American Smooth to Total Eclipse of the Heart by Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler.

The list also reveals there will be a bit of Destiny’s Child, Tina Turner and even Elvis Presley.

So, will Frankie and Kevin top the leaderboard again with their Cha Cha Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, and we have high hopes for Jake Wood’s jive to Elvis Presley’s All Shook Up.

Here is the full list of songs and dances:

* Alison and Aljaz will be performing the Samba to Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child.

* Caroline and Pasha will be performing the Quickstep to We Go Together from the musical Grease.

* Frankie and Kevin will be performing the Cha Cha to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

* Jake and Janette will be performing the Jive to All Shook Up by Elvis Presley.

* Judy and Anton will be performing the Tango to Jealousy by Billy Fury.

* Mark and Karen will be performing the Quickstep to Tiger Feet by Mud.

* Pixie and Trent will be performing the Rumba to Stay With Me by Sam Smith.

* Scott and Joanne will be performing the American Smooth to Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler.

* Simon and Kristina will be performing the Charleston to My Old Man (Said Follow The Van).

* Steve and Ola will be performing the Salsa to Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte.

* Sunetra and Brendan will be performing the Salsa to Turn the Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson.

* Thom and Iveta will be performing the Foxtrot to Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations.

* Tim and Natalie will be performing the Paso Doble to The Best by Tina Turner.

Judy Murray is the favourite to waltz out this weekend with bookings listing her at the 6/4 favourite to go. It’s 9/4 Tim is eliminated or 3/1 Scott’s comedic dances come to a grinding halt. Let’s hope Bonnie can save him!

Frankie and Jake are fancied as 5/2 chances at the top of the outright betting.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “There’s been more than a few double faults in Judy’s performances and the odds suggest the judges will call her out next.”

Comments (1) STRICTLY stars Kevin Clifton and Frankie Bridge danced their way through Grimsby yesterday on a flying visit.

The duo, who are dancing together on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, were seen filming in a variety of locations in the town for this weekend’s show.

They were spotted by shocked passers-by at Grimsby Town Railway Station, before taking in a spot of fish and chips by the promenade in Cleethorpes and visiting Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.

Adam Wood, from Bradford, was visiting the resort with his young child when he came across Kevin and Frankie by the promenade.

He tweeted the picture saying: “Nice to see you Kevin and Frankie. Thanks for the picture and good luck for Strictly.”

Fellow Twitter user Larissa Cowen added: “Much excitement! Bumped into Kevin Clifton and Frankie Bridge filming at Grimsby Town Railway Station. Yay for Strictly!”

It comes after the duo topped the judges’ leaderboard last week on what his dad Keith described as one of Strictly Come Dancing’s best ever weekends.

They scored the first ten of the series – awarded by guest judge Donny Osmond – as they racked up an impressive 45 points on Saturday night’s show.

It was enough to ensure their safe passage through to this weekend’s programme, alongside Kevin’s sister Joanne Clifton and his fiancee Karen Hauer.

This is not the first time Kevin – or “Kevin from Grimsby” as he has come to be known – has been to Grimsby to film for the hit BBC show.

He visited 14 children from Clifton’s Dance Academy last year with his celebrity dance partner Susanna Reid. The children were left starstruck as the duo – who made it to last year’s final – performed one of their dances.

The pair travelled to town by train – Kevin from London and Susanna from Manchester – accompanied by a Strictly film crew.

The visit was supposed to be hush-hush, but Kevin let the cat out of the bag by posting on social networking website Twitter that he was visiting his home town.

Kevin, from Waltham, also showed TV presenter Susanna where he used to dance – the studios in Abbey Road, Grimsby, and where he used to play snooker at Cue World.

Kevin also celebrated his 31st birthday on Monday in style, having dinner with Frankie and fiance Karen, as well as meeting up with former dancing partner Susanna.

Joanne Clifton and Scott Mills will dance the American Smooth on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

Comments (0) An unforgettable Movie Week truly brought out some star-studded performances last time out and this weekend Strictly Come Dancing returns with the remaining 13 pairs vying for your votes.

So from 6.30pm on Saturday, October 18, the following routines will be performed by to live music from Dave Arch and his band:

After receiving the first 10 of the series, Frankie Bridge and Kevin Clifton should have some fun as they perform the Cha Cha to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

Joanne Clifton and the resilient Scott Mills will take on the American Smooth to Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler.

Karen Hauer and her celebrity Mark Wright will be performing the Quickstep to Tiger Feet by Mud.

After finishing in second place last week, after the judge’s scorecards, Pixie Lott and Trent Whiddon have chosen Stay With Me by Sam Smith for their Rumba.

Always impressive are Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev who look certain to please the crowd with their Quickstep to We Go Together from the musical Grease.

Perhaps the surprise package so far of Jake Wood and Janetter Manrara will dazzle once more with their Jive to All Shook Up by the King – Elvis Presley.

The audience will certainly eagerly-anticipate Alison Hammond and Aljaz Skorjanec doing the Samba to Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child.

Judy Murray will be hoping to hold her serve, or her nerve rather, when she and partner Anton du Beke perform a Tango to Jealousy by Billy Fury.

Hoping for a more memorable performance this week will be Simon Webbe and Kristina Rihanoff as they do the Charleston to My Old Man (Said Follow The Van).

Steve Backshall and Ola Jordan will perform a Salsa to Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte.

Sunetra Sarker and Brendan Cole will also attempt the Salsa to Turn the Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson.

Former rugby star Thom Evans and Iveta Lukosiute will give the Foxtrot their best go to Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations.

And finally, the eternally loveable Tim Wonnacott and his partner Natalie Lowe will dance the Paso Doble to The Best by Tina Turner.

It promises to be yet another superb week.

Scott Mills preparing for big night on Strictly Come Dancing

Scott Mills preparing for big night on Strictly Come Dancing

First published Saturday 11 October 2014 in Entertainments Daily Echo: Photograph of the Author by Melanie Adams, Crime Reporter

CAPTURED on camera, these are the first tentative footsteps onto the dance floor taken by Hampshire’s Strictly Come Dancing star.

As he prepares to take to the Strictly ballroom tonight, the Daily Echo can reveal this never seen before photo of Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.

Taken when he was around eight years old, the young Scott smiles as he dances with his nan, Pat Mills, who would regularly take him to Hamble Social Club and take him around the dance floor.

His dad, Pete Mills, who runs the New Forest Motor Company with Scott’s step-mum Sue, said: “His nan was massively into her dancing. She did ballroom dancing and used to drag Scott around the floor. He went for the music. She would be so proud of him doing Strictly.”

Pete and Sue know how tough learning to dance has been for Scott and are helping to drum up support with a sign outside their business, urging people to vote for Scott.

If he is to stay in the running for the famous glitterball trophy, he is going to need all the votes he can get from viewers in Hampshire.

Tonight Scott, who grew up in Eastleigh, will take on the notoriously difficult samba as Strictly hosts its movie night.

The former Crestwood School pupil and his professional dance partner Joanne Clifton will be performing to the song Under the Sea from Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which will see Scott dressed as a crab.

Scott, who admits he is not a natural dancer, found himself at the bottom of the leader board after his first dance, but he moved up to second from bottom after last week’s tango, scoring four points more than in week one.

He said: “I was really pleased. Twenty points is a lot better that 16, so I am so happy.”

His partner Joanne added: “I am so proud. He is what the competition is about, every week improving, getting a little bit better. Even Craig said he improved.”

• Watch Scott perform his samba on BBC1 from 6.30pm tonight.

Comments (0) Grimsby’s Kevin Clifton and his dance partner Frankie Bridge are going into tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing at the top of the leader board.

The couple’s paso doble to America from West Side Story saw them score a sensational 45 points – and the judges to award the first 10 of the series, describing Saturday’s singer Frankie’s performance as being “on fire”.

However, his sister Joanne and her partner – Radio One DJ Scott Mills – fared less well with their samba to the Little Mermaid’s Under The Sea.

Scott’s make-up was bizarre to say the least and, while all agreed it had been entertaining, Bruno suggested he should have been “Swimming, not drowning”.

They scored just 25.

Karen Hauer and her partner Mark Wright, from TOWIE, also had a mixed response to their Superman-themed paso doble, with Darcy seemingly unimpressed, but compliments from Len and guest judge Donny Osmond.

They scored a safe 35.

Log on later today for more on tonight’s show – and don’t forget to log on to Twitter from 7.20pm, for live commentary throughout.

Live Coverage: Strictly Come Dancing Week 1 Live Blog: As it happened

Friday night’s Strictly opener got off to a dazzling start with the great (Pixie Lott, Jake Wood and Caroline Flack) and the not-so-great (Scott Mills) providing us with excitement, drama and a few laughs. This evening, the remaining nine celebrities hit the dance floor for the first time with their pro partners. Frankie Bridge, Thom Evans, Simon Webbe and Gregg ‘Buttery Biscuit Base’ Wallace are among those hoping to impress us with their cha chas, jives and waltzes.

The celebrities and professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing 2014: Week One, Show One

© BBC / Guy Levy

20:27So that’s all folks. Time for a breather and a chance to look back at all my dreadful spelling and grammar during the evening. Apologies for that! It’s been lovely working on Strictly again. Please let us know who you think was the best in the comments below.
20:26Looking back at all the dances now, Mark Wright’s performance is looking more impressive than most. Especially considering his personality is usually little better than a potato.
Simon Webbe and Kristina Rihanoff - Jive to 'Good Golly Miss Molly'

© BBC

20:24It’s a 27 for Simon and Kristina, which means they join the chasing pack of Pixie, Flack and co. Frankie Bridge leads the field with her elegant ballroom and a score of 30, with ‘Max from EastEnders‘ a surprise in second place. Scott Mills remains rooted to the floor of the table, although Gregg Wallace can probably count himself lucky to have sneaked on top of him.
20:19It’s nice to see Kristina with a great dancer for a change. She’s had more than her fair share of duffers down the years. This is her best chance of a win since Jason Donovan. Simon’s got the moves and a bit of sizzle about him.
20:18If anyone is going to give Frankie a run for her money, it could well be Simon from Blue. We all saw him dazzle on the Christmas special and his flick-packed jive with Kristina is taking off where he left off in the festive episode.
20:15“I love to work very, very hard,” says Kristina Rihanoff. Yeah, we’ve all heard those rumours you saucy minx. Simon Webbe from Blue is one lucky chap.
20:137, 7, 8, 8 for Frankie, who has already topped the barrier and is topping the scoreboard. She’s the one to beat.
20:12“A major hit,” says Darcey. “Without doubt the best dance of week one,” says Len. “I lived every moment with you,” coos Bruno. It looks like we’ve got an early favourite.
20:10‘Someone Like You’ by Adele. A waltz. Beautiful grace and poise. Only a Quality Street Green Triangle dress puts a slight downer on that stunning opening routine. Beautiful stuff from the girl band star.
Frankie Bridge and Kevin Clifton

© BBC

20:08Frankie is partnered with Kevin Clifton. He’s from Grimsby. That gets mentioned ever so occasionally.
20:07From the wobbling walrus that was Gregg Wallace to the elegance of pint-sized popstar Frankie Bridge. Will she sparkle on “Saturdays”! Boom! Boom!
20:05“You were like a mince pie with a soggy bottom,” says Bruno. But even he claims that it has a “sweet aftertaste”. Were they watching something else? I was bent over, creased laughing.
20:04“I’d have liked bigger portions. It was all too little, small and dainty. Get out and give it some flair,” says Len. The judges are being incredibly jealous with the MasterChef judge. That was diabolical.
20:03Move over Quentin Willson, we may have a new Worst Ever Strictly Dancer. He made Ann Widdecombe look like Wayne Sleep.
Greg Wallace and Aliona Vilani

© BBC

20:01I can’t even. I just can’t. Oh Gregg.
19:59Let’s hope the costume department put in extra time on the seams of his trousers. We don’t need to see the greengrocer’s butternut squash.
19:58DANCING DOESN’T GET TOUGHER THAN THIS. HERE COMES SHOUTY GREENGROCER MAN GREGG WALLACE.
19:57Sunetra says that it felt like “taking a penalty for England”. Brendan rightly points out that if you take the metaphor it “probably means we’re going to lose”.
19:56“The operation is over, the patient is still alive.” I think that’s a compliment from Len.
Sunetra Sarker and Brendan Cole dance the Tango

© BBC

19:55Bruno tells Sunetra that she needs to “control her assets” (well, they are impressive) and that she has promise. Craig pours water on that fire though, complaining about her frame with his trademark sneer. Boo! Hiss! Etc.
19:54Brendan remains an absolute master at ballroom. It’s nigh on impossible to judge a celebrity doing ballroom when he’s throwing them around the room. I reckon he could even make me look good.
19:52Sunetra Sarker and Brendan Cole are the next pairing on the dancefloor. Quite intrigued to watch this pairing. I know very little about Sunetra and I’m hoping she can surprise me.
Thom Evans and Iveta Lukosiute - Waltz to 'You Raise Me Up'<br />
” width=”618″ height=”800″ /></p>
<div class=© BBC

19:49Twitter is pretty excited about watching Thom every week, but the judges are less impressed. He lacked confidence, flair and fizz. Hey guys, it’s only week one and he’s a rugby player. He’s already displayed more charisma than Gavin Henson ever did in an entire series. So let’s be grateful for that.
19:45It’s a romantic waltz for Iveta and Thom. Every woman (and quite a few men) probably wish they could be Iveta right now. He doesn’t look to shabby in that suit does he?
19:43Fetch a glass of cold water for your mum. Here comes Thom Evans. The bad news ladies? He’s already apparently doing more than a cha cha with Iveta. If you know what we mean.
19:40Apparently that table jig was supposed to be Riverdance-inspired. Gosh.
19:39Hunched and way off the pace, Jennifer was a little let down by the routine there. Newbie Tristan was way too ambitious with that number. As Len points out, “when you were doing the jive, your feet were still in the river”.
Jennifer Gibney and Tristan MacManus<br />
” width=”618″ height=”457″ /></p>
<div class=© BBC

19:37It was just about looking acceptable for Jennifer and then she started doing what looks like a ’15 pints of beer jig’ on a table. Oh dear.
19:35The next celeb is Jennifer Gibney from Mrs Brown’s Boys, who is tacking a jive to ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams. A song that we can all agree we haven’t heard enough of over the last 12 months. Ahem.
19:31“It was very, very well danced,” says Len. “It was clean and precise. Steve, it was terrific, well done.” Could the action hero from the jungle be a dark horse. He’s not going to be short of fans if he keeps those arms out every week.
19:30Ola is sporting what looks like a glittery string vest that leaves very little to the imagination. No complaints from me. Steve is sporting a skimpy vest that allows the world to see his shoulders and mighty guns. There’s no complaints from Craig about that.
Steve Backshall and Ola Jordan

© BBC

19:27Right, next up. It’s Steve Backshall (nope, we’re still not sure either) and Ola. Nobody mention James Jordan. The man who must not be mentioned.
19:26“You’re my type of woman, big, bold and bouncy.” Steady on Len Goodman you filth bag. “You’re good in the morning, but you’re fantastic at night,” he adds. Bloody hell, what is this sauciness. I think that’s vomit in the back of my mouth.
Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman & Bruno Tonioli on Strictly Come Dancing 2014: Week One, Show One

© BBC / Guy Levy

19:23Craig says that Alison has “an instinctive talent for dance” and that she’s one of the most confident performers they’ve ever had on the show. Gosh, who spiked Craig’s water with vodka? He’s happy tonight.
19:21It’s a cheeky and smiley performance, but it’s not quite Lisa Riley in the ‘surprisingly good for a big lady’ stakes. It’s also nowhere near as good as Alison breaking the table when she danced on it in the Big Brother house. Nothing will top that. Ever.
19:19Next up is Alison Hammond. It’s quite the change of pace for her pro Aljaz, who had Abbey Clancy last year. He probably won’t win this year, but it should be fun.
19:16“You’ve got hutzpah!” yells Bruno, unable to remain in his chair beyond the first 15 minutes. Craig is less impressed, mocking the “upside donkey kick”. He doesn’t quite look like a winner, but there was enough energy and enthusiasm from Mark to suggest that he’ll make it to the latter stages. Most impressively, he hasn’t gone too OTT with the tan. He’s done himself proud, but Essex won’t recognise their famous son.
19:13Fair play to Mr Wright, his Cha Cha is much less wooden than his personality. There was much more dazzle in that than any of his ITV2 series. He even slipped in a ‘reverse worm’. That’s not going to get any extra marks from grumpy old Len, but you can’t knock a good worm.
19:10TABLOID WRITERS AT THE READY. Mark Wright is dancing and he’s touching a woman. Ooh-er. What will Michelle Keegan think? Ooh-er. The Strictly Curse. Etc, etc.
Mark Wright and Karen Hauer

© BBC

19:09First up on the dancefloor tonight is Mark Wright. He says that some Essex boys have an image that they’re too cool to dance. Luckily for Mark, he’s never been cool, so he doesn’t have to worry about that.
19:08It looks like we’re sticking with this new judges intro thing – they all waltz on and showcase their best nightclub pulling dancemove. It gives Bruno a chance to do his impressive Kenneth Williams impression (Carry On Ballroom), but Len Goodman best watch his hip replacement with those dazzling ballroom moves.
19:05It’s not often you get to here Corona’s ‘Rhythm of the Night’ on primetime BBC One these days, but the opening pro routine whips out the ’90s school disco classic. A good night in the Corona household. Those royalties will make it a bumper Christmas.
19:00Here we go. Glitterballs ready folks.
18:57Please share your thoughts on all the celebrities either in the comments or by tweeting me at @alexanderfletch. My tip to be top of the scoreboard at the end of the night? Simon Webbe. He won’t win mind. There’s not enough of ‘a journey’ for the Blue man. As for a dark horse? You could do worse than a bet on Alison Hammond making it to the final. You heard it here first.
18:55There are 9 celebs left to dance tonight. We’ve got the joys of Thom Evans’s chesticle, the ‘charisma’ of Mark Wright, the highs of Frankie Saturday and Simon Webbe and the potentially pant-splittingly bad Gregg Wallace. Let’s hope he doesn’t flash his ‘buttery biscuit base’ like he did in training.
18:51Anyone unsure as to whether to watch Strictly or X Factor, here are some spoilers for the opposition. There are tears, Louis Walsh fools around and you won’t remember the winner’s name in six months time.
18:49Good evening everyone. It’s been a long while since I’ve live-blogged an episode of Strictly. For too long, I’ve been dabbling in the darkside with Louis Walsh and co. I feel like I’m back home with the glitter and Dave Arch’s band.
